One of the oldest castles in the Czech Republic, Vildštejn Castle in Skalná, is located 6 km from Františkovy Lázně.
Here, you can visit the museum of fire-fighting equipment, the lodging quarters of the Knight Helmfeld, the royal hall, the medieval feast hall, and a small exhibit on judicature and the dungeon at Vildštejn. The castle was originally built in the Romanesque style with elements of the Hohenstaufen castle architecture as a water castle. It is separated from its surroundings by an artificial lake.
