Description

With its appearance, this small tower constructed in 1906 reminds one of the enchanted castle in Sleeping Beauty - only very few mentions of it can be found, as if it did not even exist. The lookout was constructed at the costs of the chairman of the Beautifying Society at the time, Gustav Wiedermann, supposedly to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the first written mention of the local springs. However, seeing that a monument to Goethe was unveiled in the park by the theatre also in September 1906, we can assume that the tower might be associated with Wiedermann’s original objective of building a lookout tower himself on Komorní hůrka Hill to commemorate Goethe.
