Description

When Emperor Franz I visited Františkovy Lázně in 1812, the Cheb Municipal Authority requested the construction of a fitting spa church. The construction, built according to the designs of the Imperial and Royal Court Building Authority, required 85,000 golden coins of the Viennese currency, of which 72,000 were donated by Emperor Franz I himself. The construction took place in the period of 1815 until 1820. In 1814, the Emperor also decided that the local church be administered by the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star, who administer the parish established in 1868 to this day.
