Fritz Pontini, painter and printmaker (1874 Vienna - 1912 Vienna)
Pontini is one of the forgotten artists, although he was quite well known in his time.

He came from a wealthy hotelier family in Františkovy Lázně, who came here from Cheb at the beginning of the 19th century.
From 1892 to 1901 he studied at the Vienna Academy, married in Vienna and settled here permanently.
However, he returned to Františkovy Lázně regularly and was the first painter to discover the rather monotonous and not very picturesque landscape of the Cheb region. His promising career was interrupted by a tragic death. On 22 June 1912, he shot himself in his Vienna studio in response to his wife's suicide.

The exhibition is open during the opening hours of the City Museum
